"This was pond number 2 after your typical "water Garden" style pond which started the koi keeping hobby for myself. It took 18 months to design and build and all the physical work was done by myself except the fibreglass which was done by Mick Whitelaw. Richard and Donna Jones and their staff did the design and i simply followed their plans.
Dimensions of the pond are 13.5ft x 6ft x 5ft with two viewing windows. The filters are block built (Richdon Style) with 14ft x 2ft x 3ft of settlement then a line of brushes through two 4" pipes to the Kaldness K1 chamber of 2.5ft x 1.5ft x 3ft then finally Jap matting in a chamber 4.5ft x 1.5ft x 3ft with two 2" returns using 2 x Aquamax 10,000's and a TMC 55w UV.
The separate skimmer filter is pumped by another Aquamax 10,000 going through Certikin Skimmer with a wide mouth extension and 4" conversion. Filter media is Jap Matting. This is a total gallonage of 3000 UK gallons.
The bottom drain will use 80l of air via 2 x Airtech pumps and the bio Chamber will also have a Airtech 80 powering the 200L of fluidized K1. The pond also has 2 x Richdon Aquafusers built into the base being powered by another 2 x Airtech 40's. Giving 240lpm of air in total.
All filters and the pond are fibreglassed. Heating is via gas off the House Condensing Combi Boiler and a Elecro 4KW heater as back-up in case of boiler failure."
