'The Lopes' Pond Build No. 2

This is our second pond, the first was made from a raised border and once we got the bug for koi keeping we decided to build a proper koi pond which we could enjoy our collection in.

It was built by a friend of mine who is a builder and a koi keeper with his colleague and myself doing the donkey work. It took 3 months to finish due to a summer holiday and then trying to book the fibreglasser. Once finished and all koi transferred over we demolished the old pond and built a decking area from where we could sit and enjoy the koi.

This pond is 4600 gallons and is filtered by a nexus 300 eazy which is filled from a Richdon aerated bottom drain. The skimmer line is what does all the donkey work and has an easy pod followed by a PB85 beadfilter then 110W UV and finally the heat exchanger. It is heated by it own dedicated gas boiler. There is a Hiblow 80 supplying the Nexus 300 and Hiblow 100 supplying the bottom drain. Optimax 10000 pumping from Nexus 300 and Sequence 10000 on the skimmer line.
